What’s the difference between the Sync 3 and Sync 4 screens?
Sync 4 has a higher resolution screen. Functionality is basically the same.

Is this compatible with Explorer FPIUs?

You’d need additional parts.

Actually, the process is similar to an Explorer. Most FPIUs come with Sync 1, but you’ll need extra parts only if it doesn’t have Sync installed already. If your FPIU has an ‘AUX’ button on the media controls, it has Sync 1 and can be upgraded.
@Stormy
Yes, though extra harnesses, bezels, programming, and climate control upgrades can get expensive. It’s doable but not as straightforward as a 2-to-3 conversion.

Totally agree. Aftermarket might be cheaper and works just as well in most cases.
Can you ship this to Europe? I’m in Germany and recently got a 2014 Explorer Sport from the U.S. GPS and Sirius don’t work here. Any chance this upgrade would help?

GPS should work if you get the right maps, but Sirius won’t because it’s a hardware limitation.
Just get the Tesla screen. It’s a million times better and looks amazing.

Tesla screens are slow, buggy, and have no support. This upgrade is cheaper and OEM. If you like Tesla screens, go for it, but I prefer reliable OEM.
@Kaius
It’s faster than Sync 3 with 8GB of RAM and is open-source for programmers. But to each their own!

Do you have a link to the source code?
