Reliability question for 2020+ Explorer

Hey, just wanted to float this question out there to any 2020+ explorer owners or maybe anyone with experience working on them etc.

My wife and I are looking to move on from her Jeep Cherokee that’s been plagued with various electrical issues and she seems to really like Explorers.

What’s everyone’s experience with their Explorer?

2020 XLT owner. Minor issues like rattles, hard shifting in low gears during warmup, and needing to reset the infotainment system frequently. Nothing major so far.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Ford quality has declined, and you’ll likely face reliability issues. Be cautious.

My uncle leased a 2020 Explorer and had a 4x4/AWD module fail. It was covered under warranty. He upgraded to a 2023 and has had no issues with the newer model.

2020 ST owner with just under 50k miles. Issues include a failed transmission, heated seat failure, a faulty side mirror, camera issues, random audio bugs, and frequent infotainment resets. Warranty is a must.

Had a 2020 Explorer. Transmission failed while driving, torque converter cracked, occasional camera issues, and noisy front seat. Wouldn’t recommend without a good warranty.

Considering a 2020 Limited with 65k miles. Any advice or warnings?

2021 SE with 65k miles. Had a one-time battery issue and an unresolved knocking noise in the rear-passenger shock. Otherwise, it’s been reliable.

Explorers have been around for a while and have good aftermarket support. I’d love to own a new Explorer ST someday.

2020 ST with 35k miles and no issues so far.

2021 XLT owner here. No issues at all.

2020 ST owner with numerous issues. Would recommend looking elsewhere.
