How to install a dash cam on the windshield of a 2021 Ford Explorer XLT without visible wires?

I’m looking for advice on how to install my VIOFO A119 Mini 2 dash cam in my 2021 Ford Explorer XLT while hiding all the wires for a clean look.

I tucked the wires right under the black plastic trim, then ran them along the ceiling panel to the pillar. A small plastic pry tool will give you enough space, and the cable is thin enough to fit there.

@Emerson
Yeah, this method works well. If you search for generic dash cam installation videos, they go over the process. It’s the same for any car. Just run the wire along the windshield seal, down the post, and into the fuse box.

@Archer
It’s really easy once you start.

If parking mode isn’t important and you have an auto-dimming rearview mirror, check this out. I’ve done it this way in my 2017 XLT:

Does using this adapter turn off autopark?

@Keegan
I don’t have autopark, so I can’t say for sure, but I doubt it would interfere. The adapter just splits power for the camera.

So what’s this parking mode you’re talking about?

@Keegan
If you use an always-on 12V power source instead of one that only works when the car is on, your camera will keep recording when the car is off. This way, it can catch any damage in parking lots.

If you have an auto-dimming rearview mirror, you can tap directly into that with a 12V to MicroUSB cable (or whatever your camera uses) and a two-prong universal dash cam adapter.
