My 1997 Ford Explorer stays in accessory mode even when the key is off and removed. It might be a fuse, but I don’t think that’s the problem. Everything works like it’s in accessory mode, but the car should be off. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Sounds like the ignition cylinder might be worn out. Or could check for the possibility that someone might have done some DIY “upgrades” and messed up the wiring.

It may be the ignition switch issue since it’s physically connected to the lock cylinder.

The ignition switch could be the problem, the linkage to it, or a sticking aux power or power saver relay. Those relays are located under the dash to the right of the driver’s footwell, inside a black plastic relay box.

There’s a blown 10-amp fuse in the fuse box that might be related to the aux power issue.
