I’ve got a 2016 and had to replace the water pump about a month after I bought it. Now, three years later, I’m doing it again for $4,000

$4k?!? I just paid $400 for parts and labor, and I’m still in shock!
@Jody
Yep, I’ve sunk at least $10k into this car in just 3-4 years. It’s insane

These cars can be a nightmare, especially as they age. They look great, but they sure bring some costly surprises.
@Micah
It’s ridiculously expensive

Even for DIY, it’s a huge pain. It’s like spreading frosting across 4 feet without smudging it anywhere.

No way, that’s just crazy!!

Yeah, it’s rough. I knew it’d be a hassle when it broke within the first month. Now I need to replace the catalytic converter for $2,500, and I’m about to drop $4k on this pump. Gotta save up for that next bill
@Jody
$400 is fair these days, especially in CA. Hope they used a solid part. The part itself can be around $150, but dealing with one particular hose is a nightmare. I’d gladly pay $200 just to avoid that hassle.
I’ve got a 2001 Explorer, love it, but the door handles and fuel pumps are a real hassle

Haha, I’ve got two interior door handles just laying on the floor in the backseat

I’ve had to replace the driver’s door handle 2-3 times already! Finally swapped it for metal ones from a ‘97, and it’s held up better.
