2025 Center display keeps freezing—anyone else?

Has anyone with a 2025 model experienced issues with the center display freezing up? I bought mine in August 2024, and it’s already frozen 3 times in just 4 months. It eventually clears up on its own, so I can’t take it in for service while it’s happening. Is there any way to report this to Ford?

Ford is already collecting performance data through the cell modem. That’s what that little box you agree to is for.

This is the first year for this operating system, and it’s the base for Ford’s future vehicles. They’ve got teams working on it, so it should improve over time. Unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with some growing pains.

I hope the data collection itself doesn’t freeze too!

Ford: ‘Sir, we haven’t received any problem reports.’
Me: ‘Do you understand what hung means, or am I the problem?’

Error reporting in software is pretty advanced. It logs the last commands run, so when it crashes and reboots, the data gets sent when there’s a connection available.

My concern is that it doesn’t reboot on its own unless I do a key cycle or hold the power button for 10 seconds. It just stays frozen. Today, ‘Hey Google’ was still working, so I could turn on the heat, but last time, everything was dead—no voice controls, no climate, no audio, no radio. With winter coming, I’m worried I’ll be stuck without heat in a $50K car that’s less than 6 months old.

The HVAC module usually keeps its last setting, so if you leave it on your preferred temp, it should keep running even if the display hangs.

I’ve had CarPlay drop out a few times while driving, but nothing like the full freezing you’re describing. When it happens, I’ve held the power button for 10 seconds to reboot everything. It’s a little nerve-wracking when the screens go dark, but I really wanted CarPlay back. I’ve done this a few times in the past couple of months, usually in traffic.

No issues here, but make sure you’ve got automatic updates turned on. It’s probably just a software bug.

Yep, I turned that on as soon as I brought it home.
