2018 XLT leaking fluid near coolant reservoir… what could it be?

Not a mechanic, but I had something similar happen recently. Turned out to be a bad motor mount.

Wait, there’s fluid in the motor mount? I had no idea!

Yeah, I didn’t know either until mine started leaking.

Think of it like a water pump’s weep hole—it’s a way to visually tell the mount has gone bad. Makes it easier to diagnose.

Yes, some motor mounts are hydraulically dampened and have a small reservoir inside. If you’re not feeling extra vibrations and it’s not completely broken, you can probably delay the repair a bit. Just don’t wait too long, as the extra stress on the other mounts can damage them too.

@Storm
Thanks for the advice! I’ll get a quote next week. Luckily, we’re not driving much right now.

Sounds like a hydraulic motor mount issue.

Thanks for confirming!

Replacing the motor mount should take care of that.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t even know hydro motor mounts were a thing!

Timing chain surgery coming up soon? :smiling_imp:
