2017 Ford Explorer XLT

New to me 2017 Ford Explorer XLT. From only having cheap old cash cars my whole life, this is a huge step up. Absolutely love this thing already.

If your car has all-wheel drive (AWD), change the transfer case fluid every 30,000 miles. This is different from engine oil.

Oil in the tower transfer unit

The front and rear differentials are important parts of your AWD system. Many people think the front PTU gets oil from the transmission, but it doesn’t; it’s a separate unit. Change the oil in both the front and rear differentials every 30k miles. I also have mine checked before each winter. It’s really bad if they’re dry or sticky when the AWD needs to work, like it happened to a friend with a Jeep.

Coming from a 2008 Acura RDX that was absolutely riddled with issues this is a MASSIVE improvement. Love it so far, I’ll get to the hate after the honeymoon phase
