I’m getting my windshield replaced, and the shops I’ve talked to say I also need to replace the molding. Can someone tell me what kind of molding this is? I want to see if I can buy it myself because they’re charging $250 for it, which seems too high to me.
If it’s similar to my 2012 model, it’s the molding on either end of the window. When we had ours replaced, it was only available through the dealer. I think the molding alone cost about half of the total price.

hello, consider checking on Amazon and eBay. You might find the molding much cheaper.
I recently had the glass on my 2015 car replaced, including the black strip on each side of the glass. The cost for these strips wasn’t half the price of the glass installation, but I don’t have the exact paperwork right now. Be cautious if you’re thinking about buying cheap strips or doing it yourself. There was a recent recall for models from 2016-2019 because these strips were falling off cars. They’re just plastic strips with two small nubs that fit into rubber grommets on the car.
When I picked up my car, one side of the strip looked odd. The advisor checked it and found that one of the nubs was already broken. They replaced it for free by opening a new package that included both the left and right strips.
thought might help
sounds like Ford has a recall for this issue, but they’re having trouble getting parts quickly. I’m getting fed up with the noise of the strip hitting my windshield and am thinking about replacing it myself, even though it might cost me a dime
I totally agree with youu
