What’s the best way to keep my dog away from the bags? Help please!

So I’ve got a situation here… my dog keeps getting into the bags when we’re in the car. Look at his face… already planning his next move. How do you guys deal with this?

What if you just put the bags in the second row? Or you could get some kind of net to hold the bags or use a big box to keep them secure?

You could probably buy the cargo option that comes with nets. That might help keep things in place.

I’d just get a big tote and tie it down with bungee cords. Then you can put your bags in the tote and let your dog chill without messing with the stuff.

Why not tell the dog to just sit in the second row like a person? That’s what I do. My dog rides like a human.

Yep, my dog sits in the second row too, like a little human with her feet on the floor.

I use a Kurgo half hammock to keep our dogs separated in the back seat. It’s been a lifesaver for big dogs. This way, the hatch is free, and part of the back seat is still available for people or groceries. Also, make sure you use a harness for your dog in the car. In case of an accident, they could become a projectile, which is dangerous for both of you.

@Brett
Do you recommend any specific brand for dog harnesses?

Yeah, I really like the K9 Explorer by Coastal. It’s super sturdy with double d-rings. Works great for both walking and in the car.

Thanks so much for the tip!

Maybe put the third row seat up, and let the dog sit there? It looks like you’d still have space for the bags behind the third row.

A big Tupperware bin with a lid might do the trick. It’s perfect for groceries or anything else, plus it makes it easy to bring stuff into the house.

Yeah, I’d say a big plastic tub like Rubbermaid or something would work to keep things away from the dog.

Is that a WeatherTech mat in the back? I could really use something like that!

It’s actually from Rongtaod. It sticks pretty well, but I’m not sure how long it’ll last. We’ll see.

@Fay
That looks like it could work for me too. Right now, I just have a waterproof puppy blanket back there lol. Thanks for replying! I’ll definitely check it out.

Honestly, that’s the cutest problem to have. At least it’s an adorable mess!
