I need help identifying a connector for my 2015 Ford Police Interceptor Utility. I want to connect the rear power access, but someone tapped into the circuit under the dash and removed both ends of the connection. There’s not enough wire left to cut and splice, so I’d like to find the part number for the male connector to use a pigtail and complete the circuit.
From my side, it does look like you’re dealing with might be from Delphi or Aptiv, but it’s hard to tell from the picture. How many wires are connected to it? It seems like there might be just two, but I could be wrong. I’m not very familiar with the Ford Interceptor, though I know a lot about automotive connectors.
If you buy just the connector, you’ll also need the right terminals and crimping tools, which might be more hassle than you want. It might be a special part made just for this model.
You could try Ford’s service website, where you can pay about $30 for 72 hours of access to technical diagrams. You might find the part number and order it directly from Ford. Alternatively, you can visit a Ford dealer for help in ordering a replacement part and see if they can identify the connector.
If you have digital calipers, measuring the terminal size and connector dimensions could be useful. It would also help if you could take more photos, especially showing the red locking mechanism from above and from the side.
try locating a universal pigtail kit that fits your needs. Soldering might be required, but it’ll save you from needing an exact Ford part. Make sure it’s a strong connection with heat shrink tubing to prevent any future issues
You’re welcome
I had a similar issue on my 2016 Interceptor. Only to discover that Ford’s Police Equipment Program offers specialized wiring harnesses for these vehicles.
you may really really want to contact them directly.
Rather being stressed by trying to identify the exact connector, how about adding a secondary power circuit and bypassing the broken connection altogether.
