2025 Ford Explorer…what's new, is it worth it?

Ford just unveiled the refreshed 2025 Explorer. They’ve updated the design, added new tech, and simplified the lineup. What do you guys think about it?

It definitely looks… different.

I visited a family member who owns a 2022 Explorer recently, so I got a close look at it. Honestly, I’m struggling to spot the changes in these photos.

The grille seems bigger. Not a fan, though. It looks pretty bad.

Really? I think it looks pretty good.

I don’t mind it. It’s a decent design if you like Ford SUVs. The Explorer has always looked alright to me. I’d consider one if I needed something this size.

You can see the Range Rover influence. The designer of this also worked on the last-gen Range Rover Sport. But what ruins it for me is the interior—it looks too much like a minivan.

Minivan-like? What exactly makes it feel that way?

The biggest changes are inside, and honestly, that’s what needed updating the most.

This is truly one of the cars of all time.

Out of all the cars out there, this is definitely one of them.

Is it just me, or does it look like Ford is trying to make their version of the Kia Telluride?

I also see a bit of Mazda CX-90 influence in the design.

‘New tech’… does that just mean a giant screen slapped in the middle?

My stepmom has a pre-refresh Explorer ST. The center stack and the tiny vertical screen are awful. Anything is an improvement over that.

Vertical screens are nice for maps, but yeah, they don’t look great in this setup.

The 13.2-inch wide-format touchscreen is a huge improvement. That old vertical tablet display was awful, and I know people who avoided certain trims just because they didn’t want that screen.

Ford previewed this design in the Chinese market back in 2022. They seem to release new designs there first, like they’ve done with some Lincoln models.

$42K for a base model Ford is ridiculous. These prices are out of control.

My in-laws ended up buying an Audi Q5 instead of the Explorer they were considering. It was actually cheaper.
