2019 XLT 2.3T Idle Drops at Stop... What Could It Be?

I just got a 2019 XLT 2.3T and I’ve noticed something odd. When I come to a stop, the rpm drops down to around 400 before going back up to a normal idle of about 600. The car runs great otherwise, no error codes or anything showing up. The car has 68,000 miles on it. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Can you check the mileage for us?

I’m thinking it could be the throttle body… any thoughts?

I’m not sure if this helps, but maybe take a look at this link:

You might want to look into autostart or auto stop… It could be normal behavior. Not sure if it can be turned off, but when you release the brake, the car should start up again. A lot of cars have this system now, especially the Ford Explorer. It’s designed to help with fuel savings and reduce pollution when you’re stuck in traffic or at lights. Could be worth checking out.

@Quin
Auto stop/start kills the engine. This is just the rpm dropping, not the engine stopping.

Can you feel the engine running when this happens? I thought with the auto stop feature, the speedometer wouldn’t go all the way down when the engine stops. If it’s really at 400 rpm, I would expect the car to feel rough.

Oh yeah, I can definitely feel the engine running.
